AFL Round 9 2011 Results

At the completion of AFL Round 9 2011 Geelong Cats; no doubt playing for hall of fame and Geelong legend Bob Davis who passed away this week, remain on top of the AFL Ladder 2011 still unbeaten after an emotional 2 point win over Carlton. Brisbane, largely due to Nathan Brown's comeback won their first game of the AFL 2011 season defeating North Melbourne, giving up bottom place to Port Adelaide who were crushed by Fremantle.

The upset of AFL Round 9 2011 was Richmond defeating Essendon by 16 points, moving Richmond into the top 8. Essendon coach James Hird blamed poor ball use for the Bombers' 16-point loss to Richmond in Saturday night's Indigenous Round 'Dreamtime' clash at the MCG.

The match of Round 9 has to be between Collingwood and the Adelaide Crows. Adelaide lead for just about the whole game, even by 23 points into the last quarter, before Collingwood went into overdrive kicking 11 goals in the last quarter to win by 43 points. Andrew Krakouer kicked three second-half goals, and took probably the mark of the year in the final term for Collingwood.

Hawthorn's Lance Franklin kicked six goals as the Hawks climbed to third on the AFL Ladder 2011 demolishing Sydney Swans by 46 points.

Winners in AFL Round 9 2011 were: Geelong Cats, St Kilda, Freemantle, Richmond, Brisbane, Collingwood, Hawthorn, West Coast Eagles with Gold Coast Suns having a bye in Round 9 2011.
